Ryan honored Barbie director Greta Gerwig with the DGA Awards Feature Film Medallion at the 76th Directors Guild of America Awards at The Beverly Hilton on February 10, 2024.

Ryan Gosling received an Oscar nomination from The Academy in Best Supporting Role category for his portrayal as Ken in Barbie. He also released a statement about Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig not being nominated.
At Sunday’s January 14 ceremony, presenters Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos were announcing the winner for Best Song. And the winner is … “I’m Just Ken”! The camera cut to Ryan, who belts out the power ballad in “Barbie.” The audience clapped and smiled.

Ryan Gosling honored with the 16th annual Kirk Douglas Award For Excellence In Film on Saturday, January 13th at a Black-Tie dinner at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara.
On Jan. 13, actor Ryan Gosling received the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film. The event was located at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara, and was presented at a black-tie benefit dinner for Santa Barbara International Film Festival educational programs. Named after the famed 1950s American actor and filmmaker, the Kirk Douglas Award honors individuals who are lifelong contributors to cinema. Gosling was the 16th recipient of the award, with previous winners including stars such as Michelle Yeoh, Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro.

Gosling was accompanied on the carpet by “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig. The two were dressed sharply, with Gosling in an all-black suit and Gerwig in a stunning, black dress with a silver, floral pattern. As they walked onto the carpet, cameras flashed and the crowd cheered in starstruck excitement.
After the pair were photographed together, attendees escaped the cold and made their way inside for the black-tie dinner and award ceremony. Speakers included SBIFF Executive Director Roger Durling, Gerwig and a surprise appearance by comedian and actor Steve Carell.

Ryan Gosling sometimes regrets coining the phrase “Kenergy.” Speaking on Saturday at Variety‘s Hitmakers event, however, he embraced the idea of “Kenergy” — a term he said he made up while on a press junket for the hit film “Barbie” — to describe musician, songwriter and producer Mark Ronson.
Gosling was at Hitmakers, presented by Sony Audio, to award Ronson, the executive producer behind the “Barbie” soundtrack and a co-producer and co-writer on some of its standout tracks, this year’s honors for Soundtrack of the Year. In doing so, Gosling championed Ronson for being the prime example of “Kenergy” in the real world.
“What is ‘Kenergy,’ other than a word I made up on a press junket so I didn’t have to really answer any questions, that’s haunted me ever since?” Gosling said while chuckling on stage. “Well, it’s a noun, that I’ve come to understand as the strength and vitality required for a sustained period of ‘Kenning.’ What’s ‘Kenning,’ other than another random word I made up? It’s a verb. To Ken is to give more than is necessary or required to reflect so that others might shine. I don’t know how to better describe Mark Ronson better than that.”
